What a brilliant week, it has been awesome to see so many of you at our various events and especially to see so many coming to the Blaise Estate event last Saturday despite the weather. The coming week holds more fun and adventure, with our first Pasta Party of the year after the normal Monday night run. Additionally next weekend we have two orienteering races on offer, an NGOC event up near Gloucester in a classic NGOC ‘dirty forest’, and the truly awesome looking Welsh League up near Merthyr Tydfil. On the Fell Running front we have the Mendip Muddle on Sunday which is always a lot of fun. Like normal please reply to this email if you would like a lift to any of the weekends events.
BOK Blaise Estate Report – by Snorence Brones
With the wind and rain lashing the windows, icebergs floating up the Avon and polar bears roaming the streets no fewer than 15 brave UBOCcers headed out to Blaise Estate for the first race of the year. For those that did make it BOK had planned a solid set of courses with plenty of river crossing action, muddy slope climbing adventure and, unfortunately, dog chasing action. We had a fantastic set of results, with a special mention for Benjamin Mann and Dan Sherwood who managed to come first and second twice on two different courses! Other Solid performances included Angus Currie’s 3rd on the Short Green Dan Weaver’s 5th on the Green, and some good times posted by Luke Fieldhouse and Emma Rhodes in their first races with the club.
